A Fourth of July Message from Mayor Tom Giordano

My Dear Neighbors & Friends:

Each year, Americans gather to celebrate the Fourth of July or Independence Day, as the birthday celebration of our nation. It was on July 4, 1776, that our nation’s founders approved the adoption of the Declaration of Independence, declaring the United States’ Independence from Great Britain’s rule.

It is a day that gives us the opportunity to remember the journey of all our ancestors, whose unwavering spirit made our freedom possible. It is a day that we celebrate and recognize those who have served, and those who continue to serve our country, we thank them for their service in keeping us free.

Let us honor the visionary leaders who declared our independence and committed to defending our democracy and preserving the freedom and values that define us as a nation.

Let us this Fourth of July take a step back and cherish our life and the country we live in always saluting the Spirit of America, always teaching our children and future generations about the true history of Independence Day.

The essence of America that really unites us is not ethnicity, nationality or religion, it is an idea that you can come from humble circumstances and do great things. That it does not matter where you came from but where you are going- Condoleezza Rice.

May the fireworks of pride, solitude and love for our country dwell within our hearts and minds. Tomorrow will be better as long as we as Americans keep alive the ideals of freedom and a better life for all.

On behalf of your council members and myself, we wish all of you a Happy Fourth of July. Enjoy the weekend with your family and friends and may this day be a symbol of peace, prosperity and happiness.

God Bless America the land that we all love.
