Yard Waste 

The Borough collects Yard Waste, including brush, branches, grass and leaves, from April 14, 2026 through October 16, 2026. 

Yard Waste Regulations

  • All yard waste must be put out the night before pickup or by 6:00 am in a can/container or brown biodegradable yard waste bags.
  • A maximum of 4 containers up to 50 lbs. will be picked up per collection day.
  • Yard waste in plastic bags will not be collected.
  • Containers must be filled only to the rim; they will not be picked up with material sticking out above the rim. Please help keep our DPW safe.
  • The Borough will not pick up yard waste left on the ground.
  • Residents can bring yard waste to the Recycling Center during normal business hours (Monday through Friday 7:30 am - 3:00 pm; Saturdays 9:00 am - 1:00 pm).

Yard Waste Schedule

  • Tuesdays:
    • North of East Prospect Street to Allendale/Saddle River Border
    • All streets from Franklin Turnpike to Nordham Street, not including Franklin Turnpike
  • Wednesdays:
    • Both sides of Crescent Avenue to the Wyckoff border
    • Area east of Route 17 North
  • Thursdays:
    • Both sides of Franklin Turnpike to Crescent Avenue
  • Fridays:
    • Both sides of East Prospect Street to Ho-Ho-Kus border
    • All streets between Nordham Street to Route 17 north

After yard waste collection ends, the Borough provides leaf collection by district. Please see waldwicknj.gov/leafcollection for more information.


The Department of Public Works has 17 full time employees and 1 part time employee.  The Department is responsible for the operation and functioning of the Borough's extensive municipal infrastructure (road maintenance, road sweeping, sewer maintenance, water testing, installing of water meters, maintenance to the water system, grass cutting on Borough properties including parks, minor building maintenance, storm water maintenance and cleaning, maintenance of the Borough pool, playgrounds and parks, leaf pick up, curb side grass and branch (yard waste) pick up, snow removal, de-icing, white metal and electronics pick up, operation of the Recycling Center, parking meter maintenance, street sign maintenance, light vehicle maintenance, storm clean up) as well as providing emergency services and participating in many Borough functions.

Employees have commercial driver's licenses and are diversified in operating equipment from lawn mowers to large construction equipment. Many of the employees belong to an emergency service organization in the Borough. There is an employee on call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to handle emergencies.
